Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering Conversa: Journal of Communication and Social Research as the venue for publishing your research. Authors are requested to read and follow the guidelines below before submitting their manuscripts.

  1. Scope of the Journal

Submitted manuscripts must fall within the journal's focus and scope, including but not limited to communication studies, digital communication, media studies, journalism, public relations, organizational communication, sociology, anthropology, public administration, public policy, cultural studies, community development, and interdisciplinary social research.

  1. Manuscript Originality

Submitted manuscripts must:

  • Be original and unpublished.
  • Not be under consideration by another journal.
  • Be free from plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification.
  • Comply with the journal's Publication Ethics and Plagiarism Policy.
  1. Manuscript Language

The journal accepts manuscripts written in:

  • English
  • Bahasa Indonesia

Authors are encouraged to use clear, concise, and academically appropriate language.

  1. Manuscript Format

Authors should prepare manuscripts using the journal template.

General formatting requirements include:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • A4 paper size
  • Times New Roman, 12 pt
  • 1.5 line spacing
  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
  • Continuous page numbering

The manuscript should contain the following sections:

  • Title
  • Author(s) and Affiliation(s)
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Keywords (3–5 keywords)
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review (if applicable)
  • Research Method
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements (optional)
  • References

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Use recent and relevant references.
  • Include references from reputable national and international journals.
  • Ensure consistency in citation style.

The journal recommends using:

  • APA Style (7th Edition)

Reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is strongly recommended.

  1. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should:

  • Be numbered consecutively.
  • Include clear titles.
  • Be cited in the main text.
  • Have sufficient resolution for publication.
  1. Ethical Considerations

Authors must ensure that:

  • All listed authors have made significant contributions.
  • Conflicts of interest are disclosed.
  • Necessary research ethics approval has been obtained when applicable.
  1. Submission Process

All manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's Online Journal System (OJS).

Authors should:

  • Register an account.
  • Complete all required metadata.
  • Upload the manuscript file.
  • Upload supplementary files when necessary.
  1. Peer Review

All submissions undergo:

  • Initial editorial screening.
  • Plagiarism screening.
  • Double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers.
  • Editorial decision.

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

Published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Conversa: Journal of Communication and Social Research does not charge any fees for:

  • Manuscript submission
  • Editorial processing
  • Peer review
  • Article publication

All publication services are provided free of charge (IDR 0.00).
