Publication Ethics

Conversa: Journal of Communication and Social Research is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher to ensure the integrity and quality of scholarly publishing.

The journal follows internationally accepted ethical principles for scholarly publishing and expects all parties involved in the publication process to adhere to these principles.

Duties of Editors

The Editors are responsible for all editorial decisions regarding submitted manuscripts based on academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's focus and scope.

Editors shall:

  • Evaluate manuscripts fairly without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.
  • Ensure a fair, objective, and confidential peer-review process.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest in handling manuscripts.
  • Take appropriate action in response to ethical concerns, including plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, or other forms of research misconduct.
  • Publish corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern whenever necessary.

Duties of Reviewers

Peer reviewers play an essential role in maintaining the quality of the journal.

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Conduct reviews objectively and constructively.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts.
  • Identify relevant published work not cited by the authors.
  • Inform the editors of any substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and other published works.
  • Decline the review if a conflict of interest exists.
  • Complete the review within the agreed review period.

Duties of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to Conversa must ensure that their work is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere.

Authors are expected to:

  • Present accurate and original research.
  • Properly acknowledge the work of others through appropriate citation.
  • Avoid plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, and duplicate publication.
  • Ensure that all listed authors have significantly contributed to the research.
  • Disclose any conflicts of interest.
  • Notify the editor promptly if significant errors are discovered after publication and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article if necessary.

Authorship

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported research. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.

Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to Conversa are screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism in any form.

Manuscripts containing significant plagiarism, including self-plagiarism or duplicate publication, will be rejected immediately.

Peer Review Process

Conversa implements a double-blind peer-review system.

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area.

Editorial decisions are based on reviewers' recommendations, originality, scientific quality, methodological soundness, and contribution to knowledge.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the publication process.

Any identified conflict of interest will be managed according to the journal's editorial policies.

Data Integrity

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all data presented in the manuscript are accurate, authentic, and available upon reasonable request.

Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data constitutes serious publication misconduct.

Corrections and Retractions

The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record.

If errors or ethical violations are identified after publication, the journal may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their published work.
