Peer Review Process
Conversa: Journal of Communication and Social Research applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and scientific integrity of all published articles. In this process, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.
Each submitted manuscript undergoes the following editorial procedure:
- Initial Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's Online Journal System (OJS). Manuscripts must comply with the journal's author guidelines and formatting requirements.
- Editorial Screening
The Editor-in-Chief or Handling Editor conducts an initial evaluation to assess the manuscript's suitability with the journal's focus and scope, originality, scientific quality, and compliance with ethical standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be rejected without external review.
- Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism or unethical publication practices will be rejected.
- Double-Blind Peer Review
Eligible manuscripts are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who possess expertise relevant to the manuscript's subject area.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
- Originality and novelty
- Scientific significance
- Research methodology
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Clarity of presentation
- Relevance to the journal's scope
- Quality of references and citations
- Contribution to communication and social research
- Editorial Decision
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editor makes one of the following decisions:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
If reviewers provide conflicting recommendations, the editor may assign the manuscript to an additional reviewer before making a final decision.
- Revision Process
Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers' comments and submit a detailed response explaining how each comment has been addressed.
Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
- Final Decision
The Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision based on reviewers' recommendations, editorial assessment, and the quality of the revised manuscript.
- Copyediting and Production
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout editing, proofreading, and final author approval before publication.

Review Timeline
The journal aims to complete the review process within the following timeframe:
- Initial Editorial Screening: 3–7 days
- Peer Review Process: 3–6 weeks
- Author Revision: 1–4 weeks
- Final Editorial Decision: 1 week
The average time from submission to first decision is approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on the availability of reviewers and the quality of the submitted manuscript.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts received by Conversa: Journal of Communication and Social Research are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must not disclose any information regarding a submitted manuscript to anyone other than those directly involved in the editorial and publication process.
